Acknowledgments

The Bikurei Yosef tables originated with Dr. Dror Bendavid's idea of using the Digital Terrain Model to calculate visual sunrise times. He was the first one to calculate tables for Jerusalem using this method. He also been been instrumental in the spread and acceptance of the Bikurei Yosef Tables among the residents of Eretz Israel.

Both the Bikurei Yosef tables and Chai tables would not have possible without the assistance of Professor John K. Hall of the Geological Survey of Israel. He kindly provided us access to the 25 meter DTM of Eretz Israel and of Western Jordan. He also provided the author with the necessary computer hardware to produce both tables. His generosity is astounding

Copyright/Use Restrictions

The author politely requests that you don't make four year civil calendars from these tables. Please see the Introduction to the Bikurei Yosef tables for the reason. I also request that the name, copyright, and version number of the tables remain affixed to them in what ever format they are presented. This is to the advantage of the users so they can know the source of their tables. These tables are free. Pass them over freely to your friends.

Rabbinical Approval

Officially, the printed version of the Bikurei Yosef Tables have the rabbinical sanction of Rav Ovadia Yosef. In practice, many other rabbis in Eretz Israel recommend and use these tables in their printed form. (I have not yet attempted to obtain official rabbinical approval for the Chai Tables of the world.) My use of the Internet does not imply any consent of that media by rabbinical authorities. Prohibitive printing costs and the inability to make these tables readily available to all who need them forced the author to use the web. For thiese reasons special permission from a high rabbinical authority (who requested anonymity) was given to the author.
